MANILA – Prime Minister Shaikh Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalila of Bahrain is the latest among heads of state who showered his generosity on the victims of tropical storms in the Philippines.
His emissary, Ambassador Yousif Adel Sater, came to Manila, and through him, Bahrain’s leader donated 25-million pesos to ABS-CBN’s Sagip Kapamilya. The fund will be used to help victims of Ondoy and Pepeng.
Sater personally turned over the donation to ABS-CBN Foundation managing director Gina Lopez.
“I’ve been instructed by his Highness to come here today for all the families who lost their families to this natural disaster,” said Sater, Bahrain’s envoy to the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand. “We are, as a friend of the Philippines, we belong to the same family. We try to contribute to make life easier.”
Ambassador Amable Aguiluz V, a close friend of the Prime Minister, said the Bahrain leader is closely monitoring the situation in the Philippines.
“He has kept up with what is happening in the Philippines and is very much concerned about the plight of the Filipinos,” said Aguiluz, the President’s special envoy to the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
