President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo conferred to Ambassador Amable R. Aguiluz V, the Special Envoy to the Gulf Cooperation Council, the Presidential Medal of Merit award, the highest honor given to a civilian who has gained honor and prestige for the country through international recognition in the fields of literature, arts, entertainment, sciences and other civilian fields of endeavor. Aguiluz was cited by the President for his accomplishments in international relations and diplomacy.
